Great Northern Railway (keighley to Queensbury section
Parkroad and Denholme Tunnels
Parkroad and Denholme Tunnels
What to do on a day off from work when its to wet to do anything.
Go find some tunnels-thats what!
After some interweb searching and map reading i tracked down the parkwood road tunnel in Keighley and one of the Denholme tunnels.
So many tunnels on the line have been blocked up and secured by the fun police.
History of the line: (taken from Wikipedia)
The Queensbury Lines were part of the Great Northern Railway in West Yorkshire, England. They opened in 1882 and closed in 1955, however goods trains continued to run until 1974 between Bradford Exchange and Horton Park Station.
The three lines coming from Keighley, Halifax and Bradford all joined up at Queensbury, which unusually consisted of continuous platforms on all three sides of a triangular junction.
