I took a ride out on my bike to Harperbury, just to see if I could find it. I didn't think I'd be going in but I took my camera just in case. As it was, I did go in, and I took some pictures, but nothing major.
I didn't have a torch and I wasn't up for feeling round the pitch black basements and ground floor. So I took what I could. It's my second report and although the explore found nothing new, I still had a buzz and major fun doing it. I plan to go back with proper equipment and find all the famous sights (green cell, children's area, pool).
On the way there I found a lonely silo and had a clamber up. I realised after some time it was part of a working farm, and there was a fire going in the yard, so I took a few photos then made a quick exit.
On my way to Harperbury I stopped by Shenley lock-up, never seen this before, a nice little lock-up...
"Do well and fear not. Be sober and vigilant"
When I got to Harperbury I had a good snoop around the grounds so I knew where everything was before I entered the derelict sites. There was a security guy and I had a bit of cat and mouse with him, but after losing him I soon realised he was just moseying on around, locking up the live parts.
I came across and chatted to a couple of very friendly smoking kids with a yapping Staffie who told me that the security never bother with the derelict bit, and kids only really go there later at night for the spook-factor. So I had the place to myself apart from them, and it was very peaceful.
Here's my pictures, like I said, nothing new but had huge buzz just being there after reading so much about the place.
And look at this friendly chap (can you see him?), I think I might go back for his skull when the nasty fleshy stink has gone.
