The Brewery in Ulverston has been brewing beer since 1755, finally ceasing production in 1991. Hartleys took over the Brewery sometime around 1896. In July of 1982 the company, Brewery and accompanying 54 local pubs were bought out by Frederic Robinson and son of Stockport, brewing continued on site until the 8th november 1991.
A total of 236 years of brewing came to an end and the site became a depot and distribution centre for Hartleys beers which were now being brewed at the Unicorn brewery in stockport. There was also on site joinery workshop and maintainence team who carry out work on the Hartleys pubs.
sadly we couldnt get access to some parts of the brewery namely the attached pub or the office because there was activity and a car parked in the yard so we just did what we could.
WARNING...CONTAINS PICTURE OF DEAD CAT
the main building is sadly getting falling to bits and most of the equipment gone.
The large copper units have gone just leaving a gaping hole

In one of the spaces was some nice tanks and machinery that was probably used in the brewing process
A press of some kind with ceramic plates
some remaining barrels
on the second floor are some large slate vats that have plastic inners, the planks of wood and ladders have been placed in them to enable cats to escape if they are unfortunate enough to fall in.
These slate vats were about 3 inches thick so some serious slate usage, here is the makers badge and some poor unfortunate cats paw prints.
Some kind of grinder that was probably also used in the brewing process
The main room that is largely stripped out and festering in pigeon crap, the vent that you can see in the roof here houses a seagulls nest and they were less than friendly when we hit the roof, needless to say we didnt spend long on the roof
