Hi! First post here, but I have put these pics up on a couple of other sites as they're so bizarre.
Haw Par Villa was the brainchild of the inventors and manufacturers of Tiger Balm. Having made their fortunes, they created a theme park based on Confucian philosophy, and its attitude to wrongdoings, and the punishments that were meted out to wrongdoers. It's been abandoned for quite a few years now, and is slowly decaying. Parts of the park are cordoned off, but I managed to get in and snap a few shots. The park grounds are maintained by the authorities (loos, bins, pathways, grass cutting etc) but the exhibits and friezes are slowly falling to pieces. Some of the exhibits are incredibly bloodthirsty and downright gory! Whilst we we exploring, the place wasn't exactly thronging, though there were plenty of visitors, but we were the only Westerners we saw.
Hoe you enjoy them!
