Finally got round to having a look up that side pipe off Baleful Culvert (3rd pic in this report)
Visited with King Mongoose
Five foot concrete pipe with a tiny trickle in the bottom.
Followed by a chamber. The lids were all concreted shut.
More of the same
And still more of the same. It suprised us how far up the taggers have been.
After 25 minutes of this it turned to 4 foot plastic, slippery as a slippy thing, misty and tbh without a 4g or an Ojay I didn’t fancy it.
I know it’s a CSO so there should be pooh up there somewhere, but not today. We baled…
…and went down the right hand one of these.
It’s a bit stoopy but I’m smaller, in fact, a lot smaller than KM.
So how come I managed to t**t my head 9 times to his catching his back once?
Any-who, headbanger it is.
It starts as concrete walls with a more recent spraycrete roof.
Then turns to brick walls, again with a more recent spraycrete roof.
Amazing how much light comes through a closed lid when it’s pitch dark.
This section had bolted steel plates for a roof - I think it runs through a factory yard / access.
Round the corner on the left of this is the infall to Baleful and that steel weir.
A couple of side pipes.
This last one could be worth a look, but with knee-pads.
A good way to spend 3 hours and wiith good company.
