is place had a really damaging fire exactly a month after my explore. I'm not sure the condition of the building, or what survived. The fire service said there was "substantial damage to the building." however I am yet to go back and check it out myself. I believe the incendent led to two young boys being arrested for arson, and released on police bail. There was no report of anyone being injured.
Henderson Hall was opened in 1932, named after George Henderson who funded its construction. The Hall originally only accommodated males but later to be extended and welcome female students, still separated by floors. I believe there used to be more buildings surrounding it, but they got demolished. Henderson Hall was closed down only three years after being refurbished in the 2010s, because it was deemed to be too far away from campus. With the amount of asbestos in the floors and walls, I think that was also an underlying reason.
Walking around this building was pretty fun, especially with the size and amount of rooms to explore. We even managed to crawl up a hand powered elevator/thing into the attic, which allowed us access to locked rooms and sections of the building. The place was pretty vandalised, mainly on the bottom floor in the main hall. Although this building was not the most historic, it had some interesting parts to it. My favourite being a working piano shown in my photos!
