High end Torches ? Just what we need, another Torch thread lol
Hi as per above, this is aimed i would imagine to certain individuals who frequent the Tunnels, Sewers & Culverts & Mines on this & other Forums.
Currently i use a P7 & P7.2 & lenser H14r2 Head torch (850L) And various other units of debatable output which i alway leave in the car lol
https://www.google.co.uk/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=1&cad=rja&uact=8&ved=0CEUQFjAA&url=https://www.ledlenser.com/uk/headlamps/h14r2/&ei=dc-GVfVIyf1Q5qWXmAw&usg=AFQjCNFWEmIcLJAnG1_30gZGWjUQT4aOVg&sig2=D2tw9poCzCBgXlc7KO2J0A
for my lighting and to be fair i think it / they do an impressive job, especially as i"d rather light tunnels etc correctly and produce a decent image in camera rather than using PP to create an image (maybe it"s just me lol)
I"ve been looking at what i class as high end LED lighting from various companies over the last few months, over various sites, including tests on Youtube. But as most are aware shining a light on a tree may bare no resemblance to how a light performs in a tunnel etc and these kinds of reviews are virtually non existent (it seems) Also with the speed of development of Cree (etc) LED"s lots of shortlisted models had been replaced with new LED units that have dramatically increased both output and usability of these new Torch model.
When i say Torches i"m including the large searchlight types like this https://www.google.co.uk/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=1&cad=rja&uact=8&ved=0CEAQFjAA&url=http://www.nightsearcher.co.uk/en/product/nightsearcher-pantherled-led-rechargeable-searchlight&ei=NM-GVZnOIYzZU-Soo9AC&usg=AFQjCNGwtLI-95W24HNIvWTPGDuwHbz42w&sig2=x6SZMIe_9RKX66wDxSV5TA
Obviously these come at a premium and a hell of a lot of risk of being less than happy with the results. Especially when multi-million candle power is available for next to nothing in relation to the cost of these things!
So does anyone use these high end units? rather than P7"s and small Fenix / Nitecore etc which i"m not interested in as i can produce (what i like to think are) "good" results with what i have already, so theres no point even mentioning these (sorry) i want to go to the next level with models like the Nitecore TM series & similar or the above Nitecore panther range . Torches over 1000 lumens obviously with a larger head for spill & normally multi LED emitters.
One of the major issues for me ATM is i like a zoomable head unit which once you move away from LED Lenser are hard to find .
Again i"m not including Chinese Cree lights for obvious reasons, if i"m paying decent money i want faith in the products i"m using, i waste enough money on the Lottery as it is i don"t want to enter another one
Any input greatly appreciated regarding the above. As mentioned i"m neither interested or want to debate cheap cree torches or if a P7 works for you as i"ve already have covered that in the intro
Cheers
