So this is my first report guys please be kind.
As soon as you enter this estate it is obvious You are not welcome. On the approach there are several signs : Private land, dogs on the loose, guns being used.
Build by Nicholas van Hoogstaten the self made billionaire native to Sussex it is very obvious this building is a place of vanity. The mansion is bigger than Buchingham palace and it lies uninhabited surrounded by acres of land and forest. Some may not even see it there due to the sheer amount of trees. Although the brass dome roof is very difficult to miss, glimmering above the tree line. Very few have dared to cross the boarder on to the high cross estate.
When approaching the vast mansion it is obvious there is no intent for occupants any time soon. It can be described as a shell at best. Most of the building is surrounded by weather beaten scaffolding as if to give the illusion that work is still in progress.
Hower once closer is pretty obvious there are no signs of activity.
Enjoy the pics and thanks for reading

Thanks for posting your 1st report. The building is very well known and looks very ornate. Your photos show what a concrete jungle it is inside, not at all what you`d expect.

However your report is lacking from a correct format. Its only minor things. Just the title you should of chosen report from drop down menu. Also youve used 3 sections in all to do the report. Straight after the history & explore report, you should have started your photos. But I guess its all there, so kudos for that and a big welcome to 28DL:thumb

Yeah few issues but not a bad report that. Is this the one that the nutcase owns or is that another Im thinking of?
No I think your right BG, dont know if he is still in prison, but is a property criminal. He apparently owns over 350 properties in Sussex.

Thank you for your feedback.
It turns our I didn't press insert on my pictures hence them being a bit off. It was a great explore. Some what scary at times though. Looking forward to more explores and reports though

Yes, Hoogstraten, if you go onto google you will find a lot of information on him. Interestingly I also found out, he hasn't completed the building as once complete he is liable to pay tax. The mansion is the biggest one bedroom home in the UK. He plans to die here, with his entire art collection so no one can get their hands on it after his death. There is also a mosuleum buildt inside the house itself. Both wings are intended to be used as art galleries. All this information I have found since my report via IG and FB

Visited this place a couple of years back but decided to stick to the public footpath that skirts the grounds - I saw some very nasty looking guard dogs on patrol in the distance. Be very careful - this might be one of the most dangerous places to do Urbex in the UK. There are people living on the estate and they might not be the friendliest people on Earth when it comes to Urbexers trespassing on their land - One of the former inhabitants (his elderly mother lived in one of the houses on the estate) was a Hitman and Enforcer who is currently serving a life sentence for murder. There is also the very real possibility of being on the end of legal action from the wealthy and notorious owner who might still want to be entombed in the basement here with his possessions when he finally departs this Earth! - Think twice about checking this place out
