History:
HM Prison Holloway was a closed category prison for adult women and young offenders in Holloway, London, England, operated by Her Majesty's Prison Service. Holloway prison was opened in 1852 as a mixed-sex prison, but due to growing demand for space for female prisoners, particularly due to the closure of Newgate, it became female-only in 1903. Holloway Prison offered both full-time and part-time education to inmates, with courses including skills training workshops, British Industrial Cleaning Science (BICS), gardening, and painting. It closed in 2016.

After being told access by some lads at Bishops Avenue - we decided to go here straight after. This location was never planned.... I am so happy we did this as it’s been on my list to do since I started exploring! I am posting this now as I’ve only just gone through my hard drive and realised I haven’t posted this explores photos anywhere! Access was okay but half of us was nervous on this one.... We spent a good couple of hours here. As soon as I got onto the site I noticed immediately that every single building was pretty much the same inside and outside so we just kind of ended up running around the place really quickly. We decided to try and look for the pool and sports hall however half of our group got caught by security. It was just me and Ben at this point. The girls called us saying that security had caught them and we needed to get out as soon as possible as they had called the police. We decided as we were already caught we would just go - and carry on looking for a swimming pool and sports hall. Using Google Maps I guessed where the pool and sports hall was so we scouted the whole of the site from the outside until we found it. To be honest we were so happy that we found the swimming pool we couldn’t give a shit about the security at this point. After walking around for a few minutes we see the police with torches and the security. They just walked past us. I had no idea that we was five steps away from them.... We deliberately got their attention because we had been informed that the security had barricaded our only way in and that security dogs was let loose so the only way how we could’ve got out of this site safely was by getting caught. We actually had a police helicopter flying over looking for me and Ben and a police car out the front.... The police were lovely to us.... we got away with it! It will always be a great iconic memory for me in my urban exploration journey! A re-visit to this place definitely needs to happen for me!
