Bit of naughty 2020 lockdown exploring i forgot about. Bread and butter stuff really but a place that has taken me at least 10 years to 'get around to'.. I kind of knew it wasn't particularly intact inside which probably explains why it took me so long to bother with but non the less there was enough left to make it an enjoyable mooch.. there just isnt many places like this out there anymore!
The history of the site is very convoluted having changed hands and names many times. It was originally built in 1798 and its most popular product was Holbrooks Worcestershire Sauce which rivaled that produced by Lea & Perrins in Worcester. A fire caused major damage so it was mostly rebuilt in 1882. In 1954, following a takeover, the brand name of Sarsons was used instead of Holbrooks . A modern extension was built in 1978 and it came under the ownership of Nestle but by 1999 the brewery was closed for good.
Nowadays the modern building (and a few parts of the older one) on site are used for something or other and that limits when you can realistically explore it. Ive been down there many a time with the yard full of blokes getting in my way and thats not even considering how you get into the building itself so good to finally have a bit of luck with it even if its a little empty!
