Holding Bros. Pottery - Oswaldtwistle - June 2011

With thanks to Zero81 & Georgie for the location advice
I was a little strapped for time so didn't manage to capture much detail but there is a lot of junk here but amongst it some great old slides, documents and lots of pottery. Not as comprehensive a report as I would like, but better some than none
The Broughton Barn Pottery was founded on a large clay deposit on the windswept moors of Oswaldtwistle, this was dug, blended, washed and processed on site before it was thrown into pots. The Holding involvement came in 1842 with a small pottery nearby, 18 years later they moved to the current building. Originally it was powered by a steam engine (long gone) but the line shafting is still present.
Cheers
