History:
The year was 1954 and the local city where this place is located faced a major problem. The current hospital which dated back to the begin of the 1900s was outdated and too small. After this problem, plans were made to build a new state of art hospital. In 1958 it was finished, for the time it was one of the most modern hospitals in all of Belgium.
Throughout the years the hospital was expanded multiple times. For example several new wings and a brand new lobby were constructed to face the new medical standards. In 2018 this only came to an end, this was due that it was just not viable anymore to keep such an old hospital open. So this hospital moved to a new facility nearby and this place was abandoned.
Our visit:
Our visit was in november of last year. At the time this was a hugely popular location to visit. This was also really noticeable by the several groups we came across just wandering around trough the grey boring corridors. But okay the hospital had a lot of nice intact rooms, for example the old operation department was still quite nice and a joy to photograph.

Today nothing remains anymore of the hospital, this is due to that the location is completely demolished.
I also made a video were I show you the best highlights of this former medical centre and were I go more in-depth into the story of this location:
Thanks for reading and watching everyone!
