History stolen from French Wikipedia and translated with my own additions.

The hospital St. Vincent de Paul is a public children’s and maternity hospital located in the 14th arrondissement of Paris . It is, since the end of 2011, largely abandoned. Formerly known as Children's Assisted Hospice it was known by the name St. Vincent de Paul since 1942 . It is associated with the Cochin hospital in Cochin Hospital Group - St. Vincent de Paul, which is part of the university medical group west.
He introduced many services related to health care for children, especially for orthodontics, occlusodontics and surgery . It is under the protection of Vincent de Paul , patron saint of charitable works.
Children's Assisted Hospice was founded by St. Vincent de Paul in 1638 . First installed near the Porte Saint-Victor, he was later transferred to the castle of Bicetre and near Saint-Lazare, finally on the steps of Notre Dame . QueenMaria Theresa of Austria who founded in 1676 another hospice for children found in the Faubourg Saint-Antoine , the two institutions were united by Bonaparte in 1802 and installed in the buildings of the Oratory of the Rue d'Enfer.
Throughout the 19th century until the 1960s, the congregation of the Sisters of St. Vincent de Paul were health assistants in the hospital / hospice, first massively and in 1920 they were gradually replaced by nurses and secular aides.

Controversy
August 2, 2005, newspapers ( Le Figaro , Libération ) reported that many fetuses humans were kept under abnormal conditions in the laboratory of histology and Foetopathology hospital (that is to say, preserved since the many years for unknown reasons, not scientific).
The official figure was that of at least 351 preserved fetuses since the late 1970s.
The investigation by the direction of the Public Assistance of Paris Hospitals (AP-HP) has show various problems: first, conservation conditions under questionable professional practices, then deficiencies in record keeping which prevented traceability operations and finally the lack of influence over the organization of the conservation system.
The direction of the AP-HP seem made a statement following the case and promised to lead a more vigilant vis-Ã -vis the organization of pathology services generally responsible for organizing the preservation of bodies in hospitals.
The burial chamber of St. Vincent de Paul has been closed and all its transferred to the mortuary of the Cochin hospital activity. Reprimands were issued with regard to medical officials.

Closure:
Since 2004, rumours later confirmed by the unions and the management of the AP-HP announced that the Saint-Vincent-de-Paul was to close and moved to other facilities services (including the Cochin Hospital or the Necker Children's Hospital patients , very close).
First, it was planned to install the new courthouse in Paris , but after a long wait, the French government decided to launch this project in the 17th arrondissement. On the 23 July 2010 paediatric emergencies were permanently closed. The admissions department has meanwhile moved to the Cochin hospital.
In late 2011, following the opening of the new Maternity Port Royal, it was the turn of St. Vincent de Paul to close. The city of Paris is planning to demolish the entire building to build an eco-district by 2017.
The surrounding buildings of the hospital are still in use as temporary homeless shelters. Several of the hospital buildings are abandoned, however.

It was briefly open, from what I hear, then got sealed up very quickly - only access is climbing now.

That's a linear stapler for stapling people back together again after surgery.

Nope - it is a linear stapler for sealing across the bowel prior to dividing it during resection surgery - the next picture in the report shows an end to end bowel stapler (on the right) - and a side to side anastomotic stapler (on the left)

Is this the future?

Good report too, I like all the equipment that's lying around. Shame about the graff. Looks like it was open for quite a while, there quite a lot as far as I can tell.
