Visited this place with Circa83
Construction began in 1950. The Power station was opened by the mayor on 11 May 1956. 1984 saw the closure of the power station, the cooling towers were demolished on 16 October 1988. Most of the buildings were demolished in September 1990. Now just one building remains.
The one building that does remain is covered in some very impressive graffiti and some of it is works of art , always amazes me how these graffiti artist don't spray something thats sellable as im sure a lot of people would buy some of it
Anyway back to the day like mentioned above went here with circa83 and once inside could smell burning to which we went to investigate and found the roof to be smouldering away from a fire that was started we were led to believe the day before by kids .
we made our way around the building taking shots of various things when some bloke turned up and asked what we were doing , even though he was with a lad with a gun ha ha , luckily he was using the place as target practice for his air rifle.
