Firstly, I'm aware that Huncoat Powerstation has been visited a few times, but, having lived 5 minutes drive away from it for the last 22 years and never having A) Heard of it B) Heard of Huncoat or C)Urbexed in the last few years, I decided it was a visit that HAD to be done.
Myself, RuCK, and our friend Josh decided to go check the site out... for anyone that doesn't know, Huncoat Powerstation is an old building that's surrounded by concrete wasteland. Originally built in the 50's and abandoned in the 80's, the main parts where demolished (which are what now form a huge, flat concrete nothingess around the building) and the place has been left to age.
There's no security, and the site is completely ungaurded to the point that there's holes in the fence every few meters and some sections are just flat-out missing. A group of houses looks onto the side of the PowerStation but no-one seems to care that people are exploring it and we didn't see anyone around them or looking out of windows.
A pretty perfect first explore, I feel!
[Incase anyone is unsure of the location, it's just off the A56, which is a road leading from Junction 8 of the M65]
I did take my DSLR with me, but the Memory Card faulted, so here are pictures from my Iphone. Allright quality, but my heart wasn't really in the photography after my camera ceased to work
Anyway, here are the pictures:
