Latest trip down the way back machine comes from Belgium. A funny old visit in December 2013 where I finally got to check this one off the list.

This little power station and other buildings were located on the perimeter of the sprawling former Stella Brewery site in the middle of Leuven, however it appeared to be a separate operation altogether. One of the buildings had a huge advertisement for Leffe on the side of it so I always assumed it was something to do with that. Anyway it was opposite the brand new offices for the new Stella Brewery, and we made good use of the on site car park to get some kip after arriving outside when it was still pitch black.

Access was a piece of cake and soon we found ourselves in the power station.

Now right next to the power station were two more buildings. I had never seen any photos from either of them so naturally I wanted to poke my nose in, to see whether this was another case of continental explorers not bothering to check out something right next to somewhere else everyone flocks to. The first building was a completely bare brick shell so not worth a shot, however the larger taller building contained a big surprise. The ground floor was completely bare, stripped of everything, however venturing upstairs to the higher levels I found an almost totally intact maltings that I had never seen photos from before (and didn't see any other photos from prior to it's demolition!). Maybe everyone else just glanced into the ground floor areas and assumed it was all empty or something I don't know, but it was a nice little bonus for me at least.

I had planned on going back here when I went over in July 2014 however as we drove past the buildings there were about half a dozen police cars parked literally right outside it so we decided to not chance our luck!

Thanks for looking as always.
