J & J Tod Ltd - Plant nursery

History:
To be honest I don't know a great deal about this place and I can't find anything about it online other than it potentially dating back to the 1940's and going out of business around 2010.

Explore:
This place is only down the road from my place of work so I thought I'd have a walk down to it on my break as I've been walking past it for years and have always been intrigued. Gaining entry was straight forward and just involved negotiating some barb wire which was wrapped over the top of a normal sized gate. This brought me onto site at the opposite side of the main buildings, to the edge of the greenhouses. Nature has definitely taken over here and getting through the shrubbery was tricky at points and picking the correct route in between the greenhouses wasn't easy.

After making my way through to the other side of the site I found the old Adelphi potting machine and then the old bungalow and caravan which I never even knew was there as it isn't visible from the road. I couldn't see any signs of a way into the bungalow however I didn't go round the entire building as it's pretty overgrown in places.

The main greenhouse which housed the office and till area is easily entered through a missing window pain in the bottom of the door and I was quite surprised to find an old VW Scirocco in there as well as a few other interesting artifacts like an old, handmade kids go cart.

I didn't gain entry to any of the other warehouses (behind the trucks in one of my photos). All main doors were locked and had been secured with screws through the frame/door. Definitely a place I'd like to revisit at some point, perhaps when I've got a little time to actually explore.

This is my first report so I hope it's OK...... I'm interested in any feedback, constructive or otherwise

Nice photos, and good 1st report. Welcome to 28dl.

As @westernsultan says still looks like the company is in business. Found this; J.& J.Tod Limited is an active company incorporated on 2 April 1941 with the registered office located in Knutsford, Cheshire. J.& J.Tod Limited has been running for 80 years. There are currently 4 active directors and 1 active secretary according to the latest confirmation statement submitted on 13th February 2021. - I saw same postcode too, so probably a relocation.

Cheers for all the replies!

Yeah, a load of greenhouses aren't the most exciting of explores but I too was quite excited to find the old Scirocco in one! The main building houses the old heating system for all the greenhouses so it could be worth another visit to see whether entry can be gained to there.... We'll see.

Nice report, I work in a nearby village also at a plant nursery so this is quite interesting to me, cool to see what the place would look like after a few years of neglect.

A good effort,, but borderline see below

Hi Ojay,

Sorry, I'm confused as this wasn't a residential site so am struggling to understand how this is 'borderline'. I'm not trying to start an argument or be antagonistic: as I'm new to posting reports I'm just trying to understand for future reports.

Cheers,
Ben.
