April 2018
I visited this one with @Choo Choo m8ty, one cold weekend afternoon.
I didn’t really know what to expect with this one having only see one other report from @little_ boy_explores. The building is in fairly good condition complete with running water and no graffiti in sight. Built in 1947 as a drill hall for the Second Volunteer Battalion, West Riding Regiment and later used as the offices for the textile company Kastix Limited who produced clothing for Women and Children. The company went into receivership in 2001 with the loss of nearly 50 full and part time jobs. Over the following years the building and grounds have been host to several different users, including a used car lot and may car boot sales. Proposals are currently being put to local residents to construct a new supermarket on the land creating up to 40 jobs.
