Kell's Transport Museum
The museum is located about 1.5km west of Knockraha and about 10km north east of the centre of Cork itself. Opened in 2004, the collection consists largely of unrestored buses stored in the open air, some dating as far back as 1948. As of 2008, with 354 buses in the collection, it was claimed by the owner to be the largest transport museum in Europe 'and possibly the entire world.' By June 2011, the number was 'over 400.' It seems that the owner fell into bankruptcy and the museum went under with him. Since then, the grounds were protected with cameras, but it doesn't seem like these are monitored anymore, leaving scrappers and vandals free reign of the site.
Not much to say about this one. Doing a report as I don't think there's one on here yet, but it's quite a well known spot for the Irish in the area. Visited with @jtza and Alex on our Summer trip last year. I believe there is little left now as the ruins were being scrapped when we were there.
Unseen hero Alex for scale.
Close-up of the fire engines.
Inside some of the city buses.
Inside a coach.
Sightseeing bus.
Stairs were pretty fucked.
Here is the video we made onsite. Watch and you'll be blessed with LBE's luck when he's walking through a live factory
