Hi everybody,
Myself and the Devil's Child decided to explore this derelict stadium on a hot August Sunday afternoon. Unlike the Devil Child who is a Kettering man and avid supporter of KTFC, I had never been to see a poppies game and I've never been to the stadium - until it was derelict.
We met up in the car park and searched the perimeter for a way in. It was a bit tricky to enter and there was a painful combination of stinging nettles and barbed wire awaiting us.
This is a very easy and pleasant explore as there are no security teams, dogs, motion sensors or even cameras, no need to worry about anything.
Kettering football club played here at this ground between 1897 and 2011 before closing its gates for the last time to move in with Rushden & Diamonds
I don't think the club has ever been the same since moving out of here.
In 2012 they were forced to move out of Rushden and to Corby because they couldn't afford the rates and for the 2013/14 season they are playing their games in Burton Latimer.
I reckon they should come back here to Rockingham Road, cut the grass and re-boot the club completely.
I believe they have plans to build flats on this site eventually. It is a shame really 114 years of football will be gone forever.
And finally of Devil Child doing his daring light climbing stunt from the ground.
Thankyou all for viewing,
hope you liked my report
