Report - Knottingley sports centre feb 2017

Knottingley Sports Centre the oldest of all the Council's leisure properties was built in 1969 and on Friday February 3rd 2017 it closed its doors for the last time to the public


Tried to get in here a few time in the last days it was open but it seemed it wasn’t going to be as straight forward as walking in the front door past the receptionist and the manager. Out..! clocked them throwing stuff in skips from the sports hall one day so sat and watched for a bit got closer but they was in and out too quick. No enough time to follow them in and hide...3rd time lucky late one night a pal had popped by for a butchers and it was open so I got the call and off I went..

Nice. I remember going past this on the way to kellingley back in december and noticing its rather derpy appearance, but after already meeting the police once we just headed home without looking

It would of still been open back then pal.

Funny that I’ve spoke to the police at kellingley. it will all be gone come the weekend. I’m going to try and nip up get some pics of it betting blown up...

I think part of it must've been closed then. I remember googling it when I got home and finding something about it closing, or maybe that was upcoming closure?

Be interesting to see the heads coming down, that must be pretty much all thats left now.

That’s thats it. And the high speed loader is to go at same time. I think the library and a few other bits where still in use at the time. I’ve read it’s going to be knocked down aswell.
