Visited with Treadstone after our jog around St. Crispins.
Not much history can be found on this site adjacent to a garden centre and sewage treatment works in Northampton, but what we do know is that L&H Polymers developed the floors for the Northampton bus station as well as some of the London and Tokyo Underground systems. As a best estimate they closed sometime in the year 2000, as a lot of the graffiti is dated 2001, and an invoice was found which stated 1999.
I thought the Ford Foundry in Leamington Spa was dirty but this was in a different league, you've really got to be careful where you put your feet and hands as there are areas which are covered in oil/possible remnants of industrial waste - lets just say the water on site isn't exactly clear, more orange - as well as the moss and slime growing out of some of the floors making them like ice. Despite that, I really enjoyed this place even though it's pretty trashed the site is absolutely enormous with loads to see. The only detractor is the smell of the sewage works next door, it seems to congregate in pockets inside the buildings as well as hanging overhead outside...
Few externals first - a couple taken from the top of the big water tanks
Moving inside...
Thanks for looking, loads more pics here (I went a bit snap-happy as I was enjoying myself so much) L&H Polymers/Reacro Rubber Co.
