Levenshulme Swimming Baths
Levenshulme Public Baths & Wash House was opened in 1921 and designed by architect Henry Price, with separate pools for men and women and striking chequered tile floors which were complimented by floor to ceiling tiling of white, cream, black and grey. An early claim to fame is that Sunny Lowry - the first British woman to swim the channel - apparently used the baths to train in.
Manchester City Council eventually closed the baths in a cost-cutting measure, with the closing day being in February 2016.
Quite a large swimming baths, with two pools - originally one for men and a smaller one for women. Both with crap modern roofs unfortunately!
Starting with the smaller pool - formerly the women's
The larger men's pool
Around the main entrance and the corridors between the pools are still nicely tiled

Currently zero plans for the site, seems destined to sit there rotting away for a while longer!
