Not exactly an exciting explore as I only managed to get into the admin block which was pretty empty but the beautiful chapel on site made up for that with its stunning windows. This place is soon to be demolished to make way for a critical injury hospital and I'd love to get back and see the accommodation block and morgue before that happens.

In the 1940s there was a nursing home on the site, including maternity services.
From 1953, the Grange provided long term residential accommodation for people with learning disabilities. In the early 1960s it had more than 500 beds, provided in a series of accommodation blocks called villas. It had more than 300 residents in 1983. This role finally finished in 2008 as accommodation in the local communities was commissioned.

Was it recently closed? it looks a fairly fresh closure, though the amount of flies lying on the windowsill suggest otherwise :D

I have to say those windows are stunning in colour and design, well worth the visit just to be able to photograph those windows!

Nice photos!

I think it was closed fairly recently, I'll have to find out. The windows are beautiful aren't they?

Must of driven around this one about 4-5 times when coming back from Talgarth. Always looked 95% derelict.

That chapel is a stunner.

Nice. Closed only quite recently, but gradually, as usual - services moved to St Cadoc's, around the corner.

Afternoon all,
Thanks for letting me join this fascinating Site.

Anyway, I was here yesterday afternoon,
As you say the Chapel is abandoned,
But some of the villas are still active.
I'm presuming it's the Physciatric compound.
High green security fencing all around.
Had some funny stares has I was admiring this beautiful semi abandoned centre,
Just pretended to play Pokemon!
It's a really good excuse!

Thanks all , Dora'
