This is not a new site, it has been reported many times. Frankly since demolition started way back in 1997 it is surprising so much is still there. looking at previous reports little has changed in the past 5 years apart from natural deterioration and recent attention by cable thieves. It is interesting to compare these photos from a week ago to some of the earlier reports. There is no security and an open gate so not exactly a challenging site to access. I stumbled across the site on a rainy afternoon quite late so the lighting conditions were rather more challenging, anyway here are the pictures:
This was a torpedo testing station built during First World War and active to 1986. Demolition started around1997 but there was a substantial fire that destroyed the control room which was above the building with red doors. It seems demolition has been sporadic with high value materials taken and I guess most dangerous areas after the fire cleared. There are signs of recent cable theft with open trenches and disturbed electricity supply ducts. There is good scope for more photography but this trip,I ran out of daylight.

Arrochar village through the broken door in the burnt out section
More red doors at the end of the East Shed
Little switch gear or wiring remains though all turning a very nice colour of rust
The view of highland scenery through broken industrial windows is pretty unique to this site
Finally the winch and slipway from the remains of the boat shed where I guess the recovery launch lived.
This set is more interesting viewed against previous reports on the site just to see the process of deterioration.
