History:
This one has been covered many times, so I'll not go in depth with the history. But the site was used to produce refractory bricks and materials for the Sheffield steel industry. Closing in the 1990s, it has been on and off secured over the years with plans for homes to be built never becoming a reality.
For a more detailed history I suggest: HughieD's Report
The Explore:
This visit was in 2019, when there was virtually no security features so you could simply walk in. I was actually surprised at how much was left considering how long the place has been abandoned and how many nice features there were to see. On this rare occasion I was armed with my photo camera and attempted to captures some photos.
I only just stumbled across the snaps I took and thought it would be a shame to let them sit on my computer forever.
