The tarboat brickworks crusade continues with a visit to the abandoned refractory brickworks at Loxley. An initial recce of the site boundaries indicated on site security in the lodge at the east end of the complex and a some areas at that end in use by motor business. The whole premises are surrounded by Heras fencing with Bovis Homes labelling and the plans for development as some sort of new rural village are well advanced.
Next it was into the west end of the site which is divided into three by the river and an access road to the water treatment works. I am not very interested in the offices and stuck to the production buildings and associated areas. First was a different shower and locker area to that explored by Heresiarch. Next to this are a range of large buildings and badly trashed offices.
I have tried to pick views that are different from previous reports.
From there it was across the river and into the main processing buildings.
Lots more to explore at the other end of the site as time and circumstances allow.
