Report - Lydbrook Cable Works, Forest of Dean - April 2017

Great explore today around the Lydbrook Cable Works, stumbled across it while walking, still researching more into it, but so far it seams that;

it was a small factory up until the war, where it grew massively, then sometime in the 1980's closed down, and has stayed abandoned since then. Security is pretty tight, but great once in: there were lots of papers going back to 1960/70, big blueprints of machines, and even food left in the ovens.

(Sorry for the rubbish intro, still don't know much about the location, hopefully the photos will say enough)

I can expand for him - security is very tight, some buildings are filled with lots of random cars and tools etc. Security are employed to sit there all night every night and all day every day, land is privately owned and security is privately contracted. Interesting growth occurring in one of the outbuildings too! I'd love to know the full story of what's going on here. Check out some of the companies registered to there... Aragreen ltd etc.

Also check out the death of a man who was "confronted by security" here. 2 of the nasty security guards were arrested but let off.

That is interesting... States that the findings of the inquest are due to come to light this month at some point. I wonder if they will release anything. Awesome shots though! Very foreboding indeed, I'd like to have a gander with my own peepers and really feel the atmosphere, however I wouldn't want to risk being another story in the Gloucestershire Papers!! :

here's the story, it was so tight on security as it was being used to grow loads and loads of weed! a mate done the place and walked into one of the grow rooms! massive... and got out asap. thats where the money to have permanent security and thats why they were so keen to use violence to get people off and keep people away!

I was talking to a mate about the security here today and we both thought that there may have been some sort of 'illicit activity' going on in there...

It wasn't weed - we thought this too but checked it out futher and it wasn't weed it was something else. Not sure what but assumed it was something to do with the business which used to be run there (something to do with biochemicals IIRC)
