Basically as I’m sure most of you know I uploaded this same report the other day but the images attached were covered in HDR and after taking it back to the drawing board here’s what I’ve come up with
The 56 bedroom hotel has been derelict since 2008 when a huge fire took hold of the building. The hotel started out as three separate Victorian villas which were expanded and made into the 56 bedroom hotel that you can see today. The fire in 2008 which saw it close its doors to the public isn’t the last time it was burnt it also suffered an arson attack in mid January 2015, naturally the building became home to squatters who situated themselves in the building for a while. Plans to change the building into flats and such have been rejected nearly five times due to residents complaints and other issues.
Our Visit:
We did this site as our second to last for the day having attempted Birnbeck Pier and visited the Victorian cafe for a little explore, walking down the road to enter the building we realised it was on a busy street so scouted out multiple entrances to see which one was the most discreet, after much discussion we decided on one and entered the property, the building was wrecked and burnt out on the upper floors but somehow the lower part of the building wasn’t too bad with a lot of original things remaining such as signs, chairs and old jars full of spices and herbs (in the kitchen). The upper floors are still a good explore but not very structurally sound so anyone who chooses to go there stay safe on the upper levels, it’s well worth the explore and good luck to any other explorer who plans on visiting!
