Manor County Infants School, Byfleet
History
This was my first school back in the mid 70's. Unfortunately I couldn't find much info online, so if anyone can find any please let me know.
Here's what I know... I believe it was built in the mid 60's. It closed it's doors in 2006 but was still in use while the school was amalgamated with St Mary's C of E School Byfleet and was finally closed up in 2008.
The school was closed up tighter than a ducks butt and I often thought I'd love a look around as I drove past many times.
The Explore
I finally found out that the school was sadly going to be demolished, apparently after "extreme vandalism and an arson attack"
Well I thought I'd do the decent thing and asked the demolition site manager if I could have a wander round, it was a no go there!
But curiosity and sentimentality got the better of me, so after hours with my heart pounding out of my chest, I pulled myself up over the 8ft fence and the hour long explore began.
Unfortunately the demo guys had been in to clear the asbestos so most of the ceilings were down, but it still bought back some happy memories even though now it is a pile of rubble
Hope I haven't added too many pics, but here is a link to the rest of them that I took... I got a little snap happy !
