This site has been explored a lot recently, but there aren't many good shots inside. This was my first explore since moving to London a few months ago. I went with Jack (can't remember his username!).
In brief (the history is pretty well known here) Millennium Mills was shut down in the early 80s with the rest of the dock. Several plans to refurbish it fell through, and currently it is being "restored".
Access to this site was much easier than expected. We were expecting 24/7 on-site security, but we didn't see a single patrol. When we arrived, we scouted and found several entrances into the big several acre complex. Although we couldn't gain safe access to the main Mills building, we gained access to the slightly smaller little-sibling building.
FUN FACT: Series 2 Episode 2 of Luther was filmed here.
Here are the snaps. Taken on my OnePlus 5T.
View immediately after gaining access to the site.
Ground floor of the smaller sister building. Luther was filmed here, too.
If you go through the doorway on the left, you end up here.
It turns out that the bottom floor of the site is (almost) entirely sealed from the rest of the building. This is probably to make it "safe" to film there. Nonetheless, I found an entrance into the other part of the small factory through an open window.
Looking down from the roof. This scaffolding seems to be in place to support the structure of the bigger building.
View from the roof of the smaller factory, with the large factory visible along with the London skyline.
Peering over the roof at the mysterious Thames Water barge, which has been moored in a different part of the river compared to a few weeks ago.
The view of ExCeL from a broken window.
Fire exit on the top floor of the building, leading to an unsafe staircase.
A view of the fifth floor.
A long drop! All the staircases had been removed bar one, making access to the upper floors very difficult. Didn't stop us though :-)
There are a few more photos which I'll share later. We only left in the end as the sun set.
