The Morfa Copperworks Laboratory
This was the third site Vance and I looked at on Saturday. Really struggled to find any history for this place, but I found a little piece on an info leaflet I picked up from nearby:
‘Morfa Laboratory, behind the canteen building, was built in the mid 19th centaury. It was probably used to test or “assay†the quality of the copper ore.'
The building itself has a basement, ground floor and a partial second floor which we couldn’t access safely. Most of the windows have been bricked up and though there aren’t many tiles left on the roof, a lot of the roofing supports are still there.
And with that wealth of knowledge, here come the pictures!
Interior shots:
On the ground floor there is a vault with a 6†steel door:
And in a corner room of the basement a backup generator:
Texture shots:
Nearby we also found a small tunnel leading to a room, which reminded us of a similar structure we found at the Hafod Copperworks. Air raid shelter?:
Albums can be found here: Laboratory, Shelter.
Comments and criticism are, as always, greatly appreciated =]
