Morris and Son's Drapers North Wales, Urban explorer or documentary photographer this is a question that recently i have asked myself quite a lot. I would never say that i was a great explorer, most of the time i have followed the tourist trail never really pushing the boundaries at all, i don't evan do drains or roof tops i do what i like mainly industrial, textiles and when and where asylums. more and more i have found myself doing permission shoot's to get to see some places i consider to be out of bounds and would be more or less impossible without permission, over the last year or so i may have done about dozen sites with permission which will be drip fed to the forum. the only problem with this is it's difficult for others to go and see. this has it's own problems you get a name for some one who only does permission shots and taking the easy road and it's not exploring on the other hand you bring to the forum a site that may have gone unnoticed for ever, so i hope that you consider this as all i want to do is show what i have found.

Morris and Sons came to my attention the same time i shot the Lancaster Drapers. some one told me about this place, with this in mind i made the i managed to get hold of the owner and over a few visits try and document what i could, the building it self is still occupied on the top level the rest is now used for storage which is a real shame, this made shooting a real challenge, luckily the owner had some copper prints to hand so i have tried to match some of the original shots the best i could. also to hand were the original ledgers that date back to 1865, and a lot of original brochures from burberry and other textile companies of the time, it really is something special. the basement has all the original servants bells and all the paint work is still original, the only down side is that i cant find much history other than it opened around 1860 and finally closed in 1971 so i was told. what is amazing is somewhere out there places like this still exist, if it's permission or not i think is not important but seeing it and documenting it is. i hope you enjoy this report..
