So, I've had a search and couldn't actually find much information. In fact I used to live not far from the place and didn't even venture in the whole time I was there. Crazy girl!! All I know is whats already been said, its on the A38 and it closed down due to lack of business. There have been been plans to renovate it but it never got done. There have been attempts to burn it down but it still stood (minus the bowling alley) which was a victim to the arson. It has been completely ripped apart and then ripped apart some more. However, last I heard they have actually started pulling it down now so its not going to be around much more and that's probably not a bad thing. The roof is full of holes and the upstairs floors are nearly non existent...hence a lack of the upstairs of some parts. I like to take a little risk but that's more than just a little.
Decided to go and visit on the off-chance it was still standing. Found another couple of urbexers in there and I'm glad to say I scared the s#!t out of them! Some things have to be done
The first part I explored was mainly old guest rooms, all much of a muchness with smashed up bathrooms (what is it with people smashing up toilets??).
Random scribblings on walls, I'm pretty sure I'd heard someone had been killed here a few years back but I'm not sure if I was imagining that or not. Did see a few RIP references around but I haven't included these in my report.
However, did find something cool that you don't come across every day!
Pretty snazzy eh! I mean, just look at that detail! I'm sure it was all the rage once upon a time.
Now, I have to add an all important corridor shots here
And of course, it wouldn't be me if I didn't add some detail!
View into the middle of the complex
Carried on around, down a long hallway with more rooms at the back of the building. Found a couple of little beasties hiding out from the cold and for once it wasn't spiders!
Signage, people like signs don't they? Well, I do
May be useful considering the recent(ish) arson attacks! Surprised to see the radiator here, although it has seen better days I would have thought that the scrappies would have long picked this one up.
Found the utility room and some of the bits they try to keep away from the guests I guess.
Right, I forget which order it was all explored in as like some sort of dumbass I accidentally deleted half my pics when transferring to the PC, and yes, I mean deleted as in long gone. Luckily I'd put some on my Facebook page so I had something to fall back upon, but I know I'm missing some nice things.
We have a bar
Not a SAFE place to leave them...get it??!!
Hey, I never actually said I was a comedian, did I? Finally found some nature. Compared to a lot of my explores this one does seem quite void of green, but I'm guessing the recent clean up of the area and tree cutting etc didn't help.
Anyone care to guess how long a ceiling like this takes to plaster?
Or the parquet floor to lay?
Bet that would come up lovely with a bit of elbow grease! Bit better than what looked like the dance floor anyway!
Loved the graffiti on the keysafe
I will continue in the comments as I have ran out of allowed pic space
