History:
The Newport Towers Hotel lies between Bristol and Gloucester. Quite a popular rest stop on the A38 and did good business until the M5 was built, re-routing all traffic away from the hotel. It has been derelict since late 2006 when it finally closed.
Visit:
After a slightly frustrating day where we attempted to visit the Abernant Tunnel in Merthyr and failed due to 8 foot high gates covered in anti climb paint blocking the entrance. As it was on the route back we decided to have a look at the Newport Towers Hotel instead. To be honest this place is a total derp, full of trash and tagged to hell inside. It would of made quite an interesting explore in its heyday but now has been consummately abused by the local kids and is in a lot worse shape than previous reports only a few years earlier.
As it's a hotel the layout is somewhat boring but it does have a few good features left and an abundance of toilets for those that care.
For some reason the lighting in this place is absolutely awful and caused my poor little 350D a lot of trouble so apologies for the pics.
