First post on here, will post more from my recent explores.
Just want to thank member @Smidgey88 for finding this location and being my favourite urbex buddy!
Old burnes shipyard in Bosham has been derelict for over twenty years.
Unfortunately there is no previous information on the reason why the shipyard closed but while exploring this location we were impressed the size of the operation that would have once housed many warehouses/offices/consultation rooms/Staff rooms/attics and work sheds.
The site has been derelict for quite some time and since then gained much unwanted attention, with the worst being a fire in 2015. The fire ripped through one of the major warehouses almost burning it to the ground.
Signs of car parts and also burnout car remains inside one warehouse. Looks like a car breakers group have also been inside here.
Future for the building: Two applications have been submitted for the development of the site. One in 2009 for building 24 luxury waterside appartments. Which was refused.
Another in 2013 for building an employment centre and apartments. One again refused.
This place isn't the best explore I have ever visited but a great Sunday explore if you are in the area.
Enjoy!
Picture 1: Outside the site looking towards the first warehouse
Picture 2: Inside first warehouse, this is where the major fire happened. Most of the roof is just a shell.
Picture 3: Abandoned chair at the end of a hallway leading off from office rooms.
Picture 4: One of the offices inside the building.
Picture 5: Machinery abandoned inside one of the warehouses.
Picture 6: Generator or some heavy machinery used in the operation of the shipyard
Picture 7: Car that has left behind or dumped inside the building. Had to get a portrait with this one.
Picture 8: Old invoice perched on top of the car
Picture 9: Empty warehouse room, with opening back doors for a possible storage area?
Picture 10: Work station inside..... was given the boot.
Picture 11: Crippled stairs leading to a floorless attic
That's it for now. Hope you enjoyed the post and I hope I haven't missed anything. Look forward to sharing more in the future
Happy Exploring
