Oradour Sur Glane. A small sleepy little village just outside Limoges in west central France.
On the 10th June 1944 the 2nd SS Panzer division rolled into town, they were not there very long but by the time they had left 642 people had been massacred, men, women and children, and the town burnt to the ground.
Its a sad place to visit and eerily quiet as you are requested to maintain silence during your visit.
The village has been preserved as a memorial to those who died.
There are not many photos of how it used to look but I found this one of the main street.
