Oval Coatings, Chemicals and Solutions (otherwise known as Oval Colour Centre) was an automotive repair centre, specialists in refinishing paint for car, commercial vehicles, trains, classic and vintage transport and agricultural vehicles, tools and body shop ancillaries.
Oval Colour Centre seems to have continued to exist as an online only stockist for automotive paint, industrial paints and specialist coatings, operating from a domestic property rather than this location. Although the website is still up and running it is not clear if the company actually still exists as no closure info seems to exist online, but the stock left in here is certainly well past its best. I seem to remember that this building was boarded up sometime around 2016 (there’s a 2016 calendar on one of the walls that supports this).
Although I usually love the smell of derp in the morning, the first thing you notice here is the overwhelming and unpleasant stench of chemicals that encourages you to make your visit brief. Numerous floor collapses have led to barrels, bottles and tins causing mini floods everywhere. As a result its worse on the ground floor and in the basement.
Starting with some film photos (on FujiColor 200), and then digital.
And on to digital...
In the cellar...
Back upstairs...
Faded porn wall...
Nice spiral staircase feels a bit out of place...
Someone’s had a go at growing something...
