The Pellipar Burn is a sort of lost or forgotten river in Dungiven Northern Ireland it is considered a drain eventhough its a river beacause most of the stormwater or sewage from the town run into the river in dry weather its more of a trickle but in wet condition or in the winter months it changes
dramatically it can gets very deep and loud. i do apologise for the crappy phone quality my good one broke the one i used to do the largantogher brook tunnel
anyways we start of on the garvagh road culvert with has a 6 foot concrete pipe tunnel that runs under it.
This is the culvert that runs under Garvagh road
On we go from the bridge note the wee toy cooker in the water.
just a few shots of the brook.
disgusting grey sewage pollution
An old bike washed and half buried in silt must have been there a long time
Giant Rhubarb like plant dont know the name of it though well from here the burn runs towards and into what we have all been waiting for.
A Tunnel an old victorian brick one to make it even better but only for a short bit
looking back to the brick section
an old pram in the brick section
The outlet behind the car park beside the now abandoned murphys bar.
a really shitty picture of an abandoned supervalu trolley
Behind the car park now in a forest
In the forest section
another shopping trolley this one must have been here a while.
further down the river with the big new street bridge in the background the size of this bridge is unbelievable
The Newbridge i believe that it once was a railway bridge and likely was.
Close up
Everytime is see it i cant believe the size of it its anout 40 foot or so for certain.
Note this picture was taken in may i forgot to take a picture of this tunnel i did explore it but most of the pictures were not that good i will show you some of them but i am exploring this again tommorow so better shots then
manhole chamber
Sump Hole Chamber Before The Outfall.
water gully inlet
Inside The Tunnel Looking At The Inlet
The Burn Emerges from under the bridge at pellipar lane a much older tunnel this is my great grannies bridge she lives next to it
And here is the old bridge that the burn runs under
here is a few photos
Here it is in flood conditions it can get bigger though
