A fairly lucky encounter for us, we walked on site and were spoken to by the guy in the security hut. We blagged it a bit with the security chap spoke who perfect English with an American accent and was obviously highly educated. He seemed to relish opportunity to show us around, must have been bored.
Since its closure in 2009, the site has been the largest development area in the city of Kaiserslautern. As a dominant urban development element, it was repeatedly part of urban development debates about converting the area, which don't really ever seem to have got going. The chap mentioned that there was something in the pipeline about some sort of cultural regeneration of the site but that's about it.

A vast site with plenty to see. Shot on my old dodgy 5d.
