I have decided to post up a few places from my blog that I believe I have given a different slant on or that I haven't seen done on here at all.
I'll not bother with the history of the colliery as this can be found on my original blog post, and was shamelessly stolen from Wikipedia.

and being close by I decided to head over with a fellow explorer. Given Speeds' write up of the place being a walk in we thought this was going to be a relaxed explore, we were wrong. The site is very much live with active security, I'm not sure if they're in the process of stripping out the remaining works but either way there were plenty of vehicles around.
Always being in the spirit of having driven to a place and not wanting to go away empty handed we went in anyway and managed to avoid the security by taking the scenic route. We got what we came for but there are several active CCTV cameras on site that alerted security to our presence, who phoned for assistance from the Old Bill. Without giving too much away we managed to evade capture with a hop, skip & jump and made a successful, albeit out of breath, escape.
