Pontefract magistrates court

Pontefract Court House, Cornmarket, Pontefract. Until the 1970s, when the Court system was reorganised, this impressive stone built building housed the Pontefract Borough Quarter Sessions as well as Pontefract Borough and Pontefract West Riding Magistrates Courts it is still the home of Pontefract Magistrates Court in 2010. Up until 1964, it was also the Police Station and Divisional Headquarters for Pontefract Division of the West Riding Constabulary

This was a quick visit in and out.
Had a look for the cells but couldn’t find them so we decided to leave....

Damn past this in August. Didnt know it was abandoned. Way to go getting in. Great photos. I would of spend ages in there I think. For a fairly modern look in most places, the 3rd photo has some pretty splendid architecture

The cells that they used was at the old police station next door there was a tunnel from the police station to the court.
