First ever report here, did this before I got a camera so using the iPhone 7 camera.
In 1939 the camp was built and was originally commissioned as an anti aircraft defence site. The guns were never delivered as the threats from bombing had gone. It was home to around 300 Nazi and Italian POW’s who worked on farms during and after the war. Many of which then married local girls and were deemed not politically motivated by the war. I believe it closed down between 1945-195. Very little information on the internet as the camp was never assigned a camp number as it was classed as the satelliete camp for another camp nearby.
The explore
It was a boring day and I fancied an easy little walk about, had recently read some articles on this place so off we went. Very relaxed explore. I think I counted 28 buildings. The camp backs onto a farm where the farmer had been using some areas for storage so I went and spoke to him and he was happy for us to take photos. However, he did mention that developers who have bought the land had been down the week previous with the intention of flattening it for houses
Wasn't an awful lot to find but I enjoyed it anyway as it was my first POW camp explore!
