Report - Presentation College, Reading, November 2015

CarCrazy and I went exploring and decided we would stop by this little site along the way. The place is looking pretty sorry for itself with fair number of the floor boards remove from the top floors, the ground floor was not much better although the basement was still a little interesting.

History​

Thought I’d make a short report so you can see what the place currently looks like.

The Rotherfield Grange building is being demolished as I write (3rd February 2017), Oaklands will be gone by the end of the month.

I was at Pres College from 1969/73. The Grange basement did not have a boiler in it at that time., there was one at ground floor level. I understood the basement door to be a bomb blast door from WW2 possibly WW1. The building at that time was only referred to as the Grange (never heard it as Rotherfield). The room with the two overhead dome windows was a chapel during that period.

@Hotdog I was there between '97 and '04. I only knew it as the Prep School (not the Grange) but we did have a House called Rotherfield (The other two were Oakland and Grange). The Chapel was still in use when I was there and I used it for Dyslexic exercises. Where was the building you refer to as the Grange? I am trying to picture a building other than Oakland Hall and the Prep School. D
