Allen House was built by Leicester brewers R.C.Allen in the late 1920's, it was situated next to their bottling plant. It seems for the majority of the time they used very little of the building themselves, it being occupied by lots of different companies for most of its life. Much of the building contains lots of fairly boring offices, however the fantastic Leicester made lift in the centre of the building made up for this, fantastic fun using it to get between each floor. The basement areas were also pretty cool, with a very old school goods lift, which although it had apparently been out of use over 50 years, the internal light still worked! The building was due to be half demolished for yet more student flats, but is still sitting there at the moment.
