First off i know this place has been done loads of times and this might be a bit boring for those of you who have been on the scene for ages, so for those people i apologies for covering old ground and treading in your footsteps.
But, for those new to the scene this was a nice easy local (ish) explore for a wet and windy December morning.
So, visited all alone ( again)
You all know about this place so briefly..... (stolen from elswhere)
The base was used by the RAF from 1941 up until the mid 50s when it became tenanted by the USAF as a processing station for Burtonwood airbase (the largest USAF base in the country until it closed), Airmen could fly in to burtonwood then make there way over to croft, here they had resident buildings to stay with your family, a running track, playing feild and even a theater.
Right pictures.
(1) The entrance ( Jaunty angle)
(2)
(3) The sofa
(4) the tub
(5) The Car
(6) The Hay Baler
(7) Again
(8) Plough
(9) Urinal
(10) The obligatory, flakey paint / light switch / window and handle
(11) A few odd n sods
And that's it, not too painful i hope, nothing new there i know but i enjoyed an hours mooch about the place.
Thanks for those who took the time to have a look
