Report (Permission Visit) RAF Rudloe Manor No.1 Site, May 2017

So we should all know the history of this place by now, big Manor House, RAF presence and all that. For those who don't then a certain site explains it better than I can https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RAF_Rudloe_Manor.

Found myself over this way twice recently, both permission visits. The second one the dog and mrs both tagged along for the ride. It's a nice place to wander round, quiet yet you are never alone what with people walking dogs, having picnics or just having a wander round.

To be honest a good number of the buildings are well sealed, the ones that aren't are more or less totally trashed and the Manor is more secure than Broadmoor pending its sale.

used to all be wide open. Not ever hear of anyone bothering to get permission either, its such a mess anyway they dont really care much about the place.

Place is fairly well secured now, new fences around the entire site with on site security, 24/7, who have all the toys you would expect from somewhere really sensitive, which obviously this isn't anymore. There's even, if the signs are to be believed, tripwires that set off alarms on one of the approaches to the Manor itself.
