RAF Upper Heyford has been covered a load on here before but for anyone new here is the only site you will need to find all the history you want.
Righto, where to start with this one!
Following a tip-off from TBM that the huge hospital boiler house was accessible me and Zotez hot-footed it over there. What faced us is what I will politely describe as 'challenging' access (more like stupidly difficult/dangerous and risky) which resulted in me narrowly avoiding impaling my thigh on a sharpened metal pole (escaped with a bruise luckily!) and us both getting absolutely covered in anti-climb paint from our hands to our elbows.
The original plan had been to don our wellies and see if we could find a way into the hospital through the service tunnel linking the two buildings, so duly we waded into the water worringly close to the tops of our wellies. We didn't count on the slight slope in the tunnels however, so soon we both suffered the horror of freezing cold dirty water flooding into our wellies - and then found the tunnel bricked up
So we headed back into the impressive boiler house and after drying our feet off a bit, slipped into our normal shoes and began poking around.
