According to Subterranea Britannica this Master Post opened in 1968 and closed in 1991, following closure it was used for the storage of pyrotechnics by Isle of Man coastguard.
September 2022 the original hatch has been replaced by a modern galvanised steel checker plate number with a padlock, looks like someone has had a go at gaining entrance with their junior hacksaw (looking at cut width) and given up.
The post is covered in a mixture of gorse, bracken with brambles and ivy.
