The History:
This one was a little hard to track down information on, but it seems to have been built in the 1960s as that's the first time it appears on maps. Interestingly it was labelled "Red House Hostel":

Seemingly this building was always intended to house multiple people, but I couldn't find any other info until the first inspections it received as a care home in 2004.

The residents and their families spoke highly of the place and were quite happy with the work of the staff. Unfortunately the Derbyshire County Council who own the site decided it was no longer needed and made plans to close the care home in 2015. There was resistance to the closure, a petition and Facebook group was set up, with messages from the residents pleading to stay. Group

This evidently was unsuccessful and the site closed in 2016. It remained empty until last year where plans were preposed to demolish the place along with the children's home next door. This was supposed to have happened by the end of last year and yet the location remains.

The Explore:
I didn't have high hopes for this place, despite finding it on maps looking overgrown and unused. The nearby children's home had me expecting the place to be monitored and very well secured, turns out I may have been correct about one of them..
Making my approach I could see a wooden board on a door which gave me some confidence, but after a lap around the outside I wasn't seeing any way in. Almost ready to leave, I decided to put in a little more effort and there it was.
Once inside I was overjoyed to find a location not absolutely destroyed for once. I wasted no time grabbing some snaps, until I spotted a red light on a sensor above a door. On closer inspection this sensor looked relatively new and was wireless. Instantly thinking they are connected to a silent alarm offsite, I powerwalked around the place getting a few more photos and noticing more sensors light up along the way.
There wasn't much left inside, but there were a few random items and rooms with skylights I couldn't resist.
Made a hasty exit just as I wasn't sure if I could hear someone in the building. On my way out I realised some of the brambles had been cut down outside, which should have stood out to me on entry. But alas, I was away.
